Skin: Blue wolf with lightning effects. Location: Storm peaks Amount of spawn places: 3 known so far. Vyragosa killed and found: Skoll found and tamed: Both is realm time.. But: Me and my friend found both at same places, above Brunnhildar village. Happy hunting! Comment by Best bet, Snow drift plains cave spawn point at 3am Sever time. I've seen over 20 posts saying the same thing. Also is how I got my beasty. Try your luck. Could work for you as well. Comment by Taming an animal is not the same thing as taming an elemental You can't tame the essence of nature.
Comment by What's next? A bear? That actually wouldn't be a bad idea Comment by Anyone else find it odd that all 3 tameable spirit beasts are infact neutral mobs? No idea on exact locations though or spawn rates. Quite confusing if you think about it, it is a bear but is actually a Ferocity pet lol I saw a Nelf Hunter in Dalaran with one, and I was looking to see where to tame it.
Comment by Saan I saw a Spectral Bear before? Comment by zomg5 a spirit devilsaur would be awesome. Comment by Hey, just to let you know, I am currently a BM hunter at level 69 now, and I dont know about you guys, but my cunning pets do way more dps than ferocity pets now due to the Wolverine Bite cunning pets can now get.
I tested out a couple of cunning pets, and the ones that seem to the most damage is the Nether Ray, and its strange because its CD on its ability is 28 seconds. Strangely enough my Sporebat is one of my highest DPS pets, then followed by the Chimaera and then my raptor which is my backup pet if the boss does alot of damage to pets.
So I guess since the change on Wolverine Bite, I see cunning pets the 1 on dps again, but ferocity not much behind. Then you have your spirit beast without having a BM build.
Tell me your opinion about this. Comment by How come I saw in BG a hunter lvl 24 with a spirit beast? Comment by How can i find esely a spiret biest? The mob is named Ghostcrawler , he is a neutral level 85 elite. Keep track beasts on. There are no other beasts in the area, so he will be the only dot that shows up. Traps do not work on him. I had no issues taming him with a k health pool, I think he had me down to 30k by the end of the tame. At the time of posting, he does not ping on silver dragon and I am not sure what his NPCscan code is.
Happy hunting. Ghostcrawler -- spawns out in the middle of nowhere. No mobs, no nothing, rarely even other hunters camping him. Shows up like a light bulb on track beasts. Restealth can be annoying, but he has a predictable path.
Seems to be a reasonable respawn. Arcturis -- easy in that he has only one spawn point which he doesn't wander far from, so he's easily campable. The difficulty here is endurance -- he seems to have one of the more onerous spawn timers of the spirit beasts, and since it's easy you might have competition from other hunters camping him. Also the lowest level spirit beast so lower level hunters are additional competition. Near a couple of quest hubs which means he might get accidentally killed.
Skoll -- Storm Peaks is absolutely empty these days, so there's very little chance he will be found by somebody other than a hunter, or a TLPD camper. Minimal spawn points that are relatively close together. Gondria -- close in difficulty to Skoll, but a few more spawn points that are a little more spread out. Zul'Drak isn't a hotbed of activity these days but probably a little more active than SP.
Karoma -- quite a few spawn points, which makes it more difficult to camp, but overcrowdedness is the real issue; Karoma spawns are primarily in populated parts of a currently very populated zone. Also, since the rare skin cat Sambas spawns in the same zone, TH will be well-camped by hunters for the duration of Cataclysm.
Because of the overpopulation, arguably the hardest, although I still think just a bit harder is: 6. Loque -- A zillion spawn points that are all over the place.
Makes him very, very difficult to camp. Loque is also part of the Northern Exposure achievement, so even non-malicious nonhunters will also benefit from killing him. There's some luck involved, so even if a certain find was easier for you it might not be easier in general -- for example, I tamed Karoma and completely lucked into it with almost no effort, but I recognize it's probably a very difficult tame for most people.
The only one that is somewhat hard to TAME as in the actual act of converting it to your pet after finding it is Ghostcrawler. The other thing that makes him difficult is that he can disappear mid-tame and pop up again somewhere else on his path. Aside from GC, all the other spirit beasts are pretty straightforward tames -- trap, tame beast, none of them hit all that hard.
Just a helpful tip. I just got Ghostcrawler, Skoll, Karoma, and Sambas the lion within 30 minutes. Comment by My ratings from easiest to hardest to tame - 1. Ghostcrawler wonders in the Abyssal Depths, no one is down there, just make a macro to target 2. Arcturis pretty much one spawn point, just go there randomly and you'll get lucky and see him 3.
Gondria although he has about 5 spawn points, no one is ever in Zul'Drak so you'll find him if you go early 4. Karoma New spirit beast, not many people know about him, but he has many many spawn points 6.
Loque'nahak Rarest of the 6, many people consider him the leader of the beasts, also he has about 20 spawn points If anything I reccomend getting up early, I completely lucked out, loggded on about server time, went and found Arcturis and Gondria within 20 minutes of each other, I almost had Skoll too, but another hunter had tamed him literally 2 minutes before I had arrived, so he's extremely difficult to get..
I even got luckier by seeing an advertiser in trade saying they saw Loque'nahak so I raced for it against 5 other hunters. I now have Ghostcrawler, Arcturis, Gondria, and Loque'nahak. Currently I am camping for Skoll again, but it seems that other hunters are taking it away from me. Comment by I have been getting these spirit beasts one a day for several in a row.
And I have several hunter friends camping other spirit beasts - I have learned that they are totally unpredictable, and the best time you have to get them is when the rest of the ppl are asleep or at work.
Comment by Lazurianis I have seen people try killing him with a full 40 Man Raid Group and they wipe every time. Ghostcrawler has over 1 Mil HP and often triples your damage into an AoE therefor hes practically unkillable. I hope this helps :D. Comment by Deckven First of all, I would like to ask you not to downrate this post.
The purpose is not to show off my success, but to give some useful advices for hunters, who want to tame Spirit Beasts and other rares. I decided to hunt for Spirit Beasts ten days ago. I was collecting beautiful pets for my collection, not rare and eventually decided to try to get these unique ones. Of course, I read some threads here full of scary stories about days of straight camping. But I decided to try. Long story short. There are some observations and conclusions made of my experience.
Most of locations, where you can find SBs are almost empty these days. Northrend is snowy desert right now. Even Hyjal and Molten Front. I guess, everybody got sick to do dailies here and it is not crowded, like it was months ago.
It is pre-patch boredom and I feel like my server is empty. That makes some SB easier to catch. Some, but not all.
The dumb luck came in on the taming. Once he was capturable, I ran out in front as far as I could, used Deterrence, then cast Tamed Beast. As such, it got in 2 good hits and dropped my HP to the point to where one more smack would have sent me back to the Spirit Healer. Thankfully, he decided to cast Spirit Heal instead, and I tamed him mid-cast. So, it is possible to tame this mob without a sacrificial pet, just make sure you have a good amount of health.
And the Glyph of Tame Beast would probably help too. Comment by santipants I've been playing since , back when taming Humar the Pridelord was a big deal since he was the only black cat in WoW and was spawn camped by everyone all day and you had to PvP with people if you were on a PvP server to even have a chance to tame him, where even if you got lucky someone would come along and kill him just to mess with you.
I tamed King Krush in Wotlk back when he could actually kill you and taming this guy was the most fun I've had since then. Thanks, Blizz. Comment by cromahr I just tamed this one, going mostly by crescentmoon's post and the advice in there. I had disengage, concussive shot and silencing shot ready on my action bar. Here are a few other things I made sure of: - I scouted the surrounding area to make sure I wouldnt walk into aggroing mobs, like the tigers or tricksters closeby.
It took me like 6 attempts, and during 2 of them, she casted her heal before silencing shout was off CD. I didnt try the "run around the log and shoot through it" method. I did at first, but I wasnt fast enough with turning around and keeping concussive shot up. So Instead, I walked backwards in a large circle, keeping concussive shot up, interrupting her heals, and keeping as much distance as possible with Disengage.
In between, a porcupine respawned and joined the fight I got her down with Death by Crows and a fast Kill Shot It took quite a few attempts, but it was quite a satisfying feel to get her to below k. One more disengage, then I tamed her. She actually hit me once more, but then it was over. Good luck with this, and don't give up too early. The first attempts went horribly wrong, but eventually, I memorized everything that went wrong during those adds, terrain slowing me so she'd hit me Comment by A few notes about this tame: Make sure you're in Beast Mastery spec, she's a Spirit Beast and not a porcupine.
She hits for roughly k at about a 10 yard range - kite her around her log. Concussive Shot on cooldown really helps. You can shoot through the log and tame through the log, she cannot hit you through the log. Nonetheless, learn and use Charred Glyph so you're almost guaranteed a tame. You must interrupt it. So take. Anecdotal evidence This list has been compiled based on the previous comments on this page, thanks to all the hunters out there who took the time to share their experiences.
If you thing anything needs to be changed or added to this list, reply in a comment. Once you're done with this tame, move on to Degu and Gumi. He does keep the spirit mend though. But, down vote if you must. Comment by DeviatingFiend I'm a half geared holy Paladin, and I just helped my hunter friend tame this pet. It didn't take long, about 1 or 2 minutes once he got the tame working.
Comment by Boothdefense Been trying to get it today on my hunter, now that they have removed silencing shot from BM she still heals even after I've popped scatter shot and intimidation, so as far as I can tell, without a group to interrupt for you there is no way to tame Hutia.
Comment by bionicman25 1 Thing if you want a real spirit beast and not this piece of garbage tame loqeu or skoll much cooler and much easier:. Comment by Successfully solo tamed Hutia today on my 90 hunter ilvl Kiting I kited her him? Of course, I applied Concussive Shot as often as I felt necessary. One thing to beware of is the rocks on the left side of her lair - it's not easy to jump on top of them, and the little torches will also block your movement, so take care to run around them.
Interrupting Spirit Heal Others have mentioned that using Counter Shot wasn't so effective for them, however, I didn't have many problems with interrupting her Spirit Heal. Taming As others have suggested in these comments, I used Charred Glyph. This brought my Tame Beast cast time to about 5.
For the actual taming, she's immune to Freezing Trap, so that's not going to work. Therefore to tame her, I let her get within melee range, immediately popped Deterrence, and immediately started casting Tame Beast. Towards the end, she managed to get two melee hits off on me, but I survived. It's been a while since coming back to WoW on my hunter xD. So I guess you could lay down a frost trap and try that too, but the Deterrence method worked for me.
In Conclusion This strat worked for me and I hope it works for others too! If you don't successfully interrupt one of her Spirit Heal casts, don't panic, just keep chipping away at her HP.
If you're kiting her properly, she shouldn't be remotely near melee range to you anyway. So just be calm and interrupt her next cast. Comment by jhmoonbay One thing you need to know. If someone else has aggro, you will not be able to tame. I couldn't understand why I couldn't tame her as my friends brought her health down. One even asked if I was on my BM spec. I died the first time too as my health was too low to survive a k hit. So, what we ended up doing was my hunter friend feigned death when we got her health down.
Comment by Mystiey Tamed Hutia today on Sen'jin at about server time. Attempted 3 times. First time, she got too close and killed me during the kite.
Second time, she killed me right before the tame finished. Third time's the charm, right? I kited her south until I hit the Arboretum, then headed to the west. I had to interrupt the tame multiple times to avoid getting killed, and finally tamed her!
Heading to Kun-Lai to tame Gumi and then Degu. Good luck fellow tamers! There was a Dwarf Hunter who I watched struggle for five minutes before I flew down and put him out of his misery. So when I tried taming it myself, Mr. Butthurt Hunter swooped down, knowing he couldn't do damage to me himself, but instead CC'd me and my healer so the porcupine would kill us.
He didn't try anything with the porcupine, but he harassed us until we found another hunter to keep him at bay so I could continue with the tame. I know, I sound like a jerk for doing this, but come on! If you know you're incapable, save yourself from the insane repair bill and move along. Constantly harassing another playing and then asking for a "truce" isn't going to do much for you.
Except get you killed repeatedly by said player. Happy hunting! Comment by Greensleeves Solo-tamed December 4, Tarren Mill by myself, Greensleeves. Glyph Tame Beast, haste and damage buffs etc. This will allow you to pew pew her. When she casts her first Spirit Heal, use Counter Shot to cancel it. Here's the important part, reduce your damage I casted only Cobra Shots until your Counter Shot become available for her next Spirit Heal. Rinse and repeat. Comment by Spose It seems that the hunter taming it has to have aggro on Hutia.
Me and a friend tried twice before I though we should try it like this, and on other mobs, this theory works. So, if you're helping a friend, make sure the hunter has the aggro. We got pissed off after a few tries since when I did the DPS on him, I got aggro, and then the hunter coulnd't take the aggro away from him.
So, we ended up him kiting Hutia around, while I interrupted Hutia's heals. Hope this helps, and good luck! Comment by Sardeor It's an easy tame and respawns really quickly unlike other spirit beasts you just kite it around her log and interrupt her heals and use concussive shot if you have to. I tamed it with my hunter will doing a crappy 20k dps but don't forget to dismiss your pet because it will die and you will have to Rez it and dismiss it to tame and be beast mastery.
Comment by FullElven If you're not an apt hunter, this is not an easy tame. If you are, it still takes a bit of skill to get. I'll tell you now, I'm not a very accomplished hunter, so when I saw that this was up and thought that I might tame it on my husband's hunter as a surprise--he'd yet to get any spirit pets--I found myself very frustrated. I tried everything, but my mind apparently cannot multitask enough to kite and dps, so I decided to log onto my account on my other monitor and just play both characters to get it done.
It went to be as expected I died a lot anyway, then I realized on fundamental thing: You cannot tame it if you do not have aggro. It took about four wipes before I realized this. I also realized that after the buff disappears between KK health that keeps you from taming her, it does NOT come back if she heals.
What I ended up doing was having my paladin tank widdle her down until the buff went away. Then I'd wait for her next heal, interrupt, and stun her with Fist of Justice. Then popping my Divine Shield, my aggro table was wiped and I could then start taming on the hunter.
Unfortunately, my husband doesn't have the glyph to tame faster Thus, the final time, I just let her beat on my paladin until that toon died. Spirit porcupines still creep me out.
I dunno. I can't take these as seriously as Loque, Ban'thalos, Skoll, etc. But Ghost cats, Ghost bears, ghost crabs, ghost owls, etc. My spectral cat actually means a lot to me.
It's called an opinion, deary. I used to own pet rats and I adored them, I take rats very seriously. I adore animals, even porcupines. But I do think Blizzard's model of them looks silly. The quills aren't sharp, their heads look misshapen and their buck teeth And adding a spectral skin to them doesn't help their case.
If they looked like real porcupines do, I would no doubt love them. I've also never seen most of my hunter's pets as 'badass'. Most people think that about warp stalkers, I just think they're adorable. I also have a boar. That could change all of this could change as we try it out and iterate more.
Draztal I prefer dedicating, let's say, one day to grind one faction, by doing dungeon runs, grinding mobs, maybe doing some dailies, and then be off with it for example I blasted from friendly to exalted with Skettis in less than 2 days. Can you honestly say you enjoy dailies? I sure as hell can't. Well, for a few days after I hit 90, they were refreshing and enjoyable.
Thereafter they were a grind, a bore, an extremely poor design and a wasted effort. Do you fear repute? Does your pride stop you from even attempting to admit that there's something even slightly wrong? I'm sure many players, like myself, would be a lot more satisfied if we got a response that was understanding of our concerns and hatred for daily quests and acknowledged that we want an alternative.
Being an altoholic casual player my only complain about the dailies is that you have to them several times if you want to experience some casual end-game with a few alts. Even if you are a paying customer they really dont care what you say about this topic, they think the solution to Cata problems are dailys times 25 a day. And saying that LFR is so easy it is not when you need ilvl to get in the first one. So just leave the topic. The problem with dailies is their structure.
If you missed one set of dailies for whatever reason, then suddenly you're a behind. Your goal is a day further away from you and there's nothing you can do. This easily starts to mount up and it can eventually get to the point where you have missed so much rep that you just give in, because even though you're just seven days from exalted, you've still got to do the same old dailies that you've been doing for the past few months and it gets boring.
Sure, I can see how people who had only one character would be bored by the Cataclysm model, contrary to people with many alts. But the MoP model of content is going way too much in the other direction, with alts being heavily discouraged by all the chores Blizz is pushing on us.
And it would really be to the good for the dialogue between fans and developers, if the Blizz reps here would stop being deliberately obtuse.
